With our class I fully expect us to have a ton of fun while we are in class! As such I have high expectations for us and truly want us to be the cream of the crop when it comes to how we learn and behave while at school. Our class expectations will revolve around the concept of the 5Rs, which are:
Respect – demonstrating respect consistently towards others, for themselves, and for property
Responsibility – understanding own strengths and weaknesses; taking ownership of own learning
Resourcefulness – learning from and with others; learning creatively; actively applying their learning
Resilience - using different approaches when challenged; using learned self-efficacy approaches
Readiness – demonstrate motivation and curiosity; talk about learning to learn in relation to new tasks
Once everyone recognizes the inherent value of these five skills, and works to demonstrate them consistently, the learning world is our oyster - not to mention the fact we will be great role models for the other students at our school! And do not worry we will go over the 5Rs numerous times throughout the school year just to keep them fresh in everyone's minds.
In closing, welcome back and here is to us and the great year that we are going to have!
